• $100,000+ Settlement In Real Estate Fraud Case. We represented a client located abroad whose real estate in Loudoun was stolen without her knowledge by several family members. In a complex fraud lawsuit involving deed and signature forgeries, the firm was ultimately able to secure a high six figure settlement and rescind the fraudulent transfer of the property.
• Non-Disparagement Clause Invalidated. This was a successfully challenge to the enforceability of a non-disparagement clause in standard form property management contracts. Client had published comments about a well-known property management company. A clause in the contract prohibited the use of any “disparaging” language against the other. We successfully dismissed all claims against the client after substantial motions practice.
• Tenant Lawsuit for Lead Water Dismissed. We represented a landlord whose tenant filed suit for back rent and damages after the discovery of lead in the water. The tenant’s case was dismissed upon a motion to strike. Client prevailed in an otherwise difficult case.
• 40% Reduction In Amounts Claimed By Landlord. We represented a Japanese Hibachi Restaurant in a commercial leasing dispute in Ashburn. Successfully negotiated more than forty percent reduction in the $87,000 claimed by the Landlord in a dispute concerning permits and the rent commencement date.
• Fraud, Breach of Contract and Business Conspiracy Represented high net worth international buyer of prominent university in fraud, breach of contract, specific performance, and business conspiracy lawsuit. After several months of litigation, case settled favorably, and client proceeded to finalize the purchase of the university.
